I started reading this book on the Christmas night (as it was a Christmas gift from Santa this year). Santa was so kind as to gift us the box set of hard back Harry Potter collection.
.. and as it happens… with my last book … I just finished reading on Christmas Eve so it was perfect that I receive this gift on Christmas morning and I could start with the first book in the series the same night itself.
The book I am talking about is “Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone” by J.K. Rowling
I loved reading it and my dad said “You won’t be able to put it down” and he was right he because I really couldn’t put it down. This book is amazing and scary at sometimes but even funny sometimes and thats the brilliance of J K Rowling’s writing.
So this book is about a boy called Harry Potter and how he’s going on a journey to the best school of witchcraft and wizardry, Hogwarts.
The students at the school are all sorted out in different houses called, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Gryffindor. At first the names were quite difficult to remember but as I went along reading the book I could remember all the names just like these were houses in my school.
The three main characters in the book are the kids who become friends when the first time they meet each other on the train to the Hogwarts school. Harry, Ron and Hermione they all are sorted out in Gryffindor.
The novel has everything a good fantasy story should have: magic, an unexpected turn of events, and elements making readers suspicious about certain characters.
Apart from that story also has talking chess pieces, singing hats, a giant three-headed dog named Fluffy, a master wizard that's just a little bit crazy, mail carrier owls, goblins running a bank, unicorns, trolls . . . and probably much more that I'm forgetting.
J K Rowling does a spectacular job of creating characters that everyone can relate to and admires. The setting that the author has described .. be it the busy Diagon Alley to the majestic halls of Hogwarts, are so so amazing that you feel yourself being a part of the story.
The way author has created a whole different place that feels both fantastical and familiar is truly remarkable. I can honestly say that I loved every minute of this book.
I now know why my Dad used to ask me and my sister to practise reading other books before he can introduce us to magical world of Harry Potter.
SO.. I am Dia Patel and I am 8 years old when I read this book. I really really recommend to read this amazing story by a genius story teller, that is J K Rowling.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.
