Hi everyone,
Today I will talk about another one of my favourite books so far “The House With Chicken Legs”.
So the if you want to know about the author of this book , Sophie Anderson , make sure to check out my podcast of “The Girl Who Speaks Bear”
Now , let me start telling you about the book , and how I felt about it.
The book is about a little girl called Marinka, who wishes for a normal life where her house stays in one place long enough for her to make friends.
But Marinka’s house has chicken legs and moves on without warning.
Her Grandmother is Baba Yaga, who is a person who you might have heard of in a movie or in another book.
Marinka longs to change her destiny and sets out to break from her grandmothers footsteps, but her house has other plans for her.
Now, that must be enough about the book, so let me tell you how i felt about it.
Sophie Anderson is my favourite author and i really recommend all her books to everyone listening to what i’m saying.
So far, from the books she has written, my favourite was “The Girl Who Speaks Bear”.
Its because of two reasons. One , The Girl Who Speaks Bear was the reason i started liking Sophie Anderson and her books.
Two, because The House With Chicken Legs didn’t have an adventure in it, and in The Girl Who Speaks Bear did.
Marinka does grow and change a lot by the end of the story, so her character in the story does feel complete at the end. This book is really worth reading with a unique story, lovely character development, and beautiful imagery. I’m quite tempted to pick up Sophie Anderson’s next book since she does such a masterful job of creating a amazing setting full of magic and curiosity that still somehow feels reasonable.
