I really enjoyed reading this book as it tells me a lot about what and how the animals actually think. So the book is about a Doctor who can hear and talk to animals. When I read the blurb of the book I was wondering how the doctor could speak to animals and I wished if I could do it too.

I would absolutely love to hear some real words coming out of animals mouths like for example what a fish in the fish tank is thinking when I am about to give some food. Does it think .. “Oh no, not the flakes again!”

And when I go to the zoo, I will be able to listen to what all the animals are talking about. Like what the monkeys think of all the people gathered around to watch them scratch their heads. Or Would a giraffe be looking at us and thinking.. “Oh look, more tiny human beings”

I like how the author Hugh Lofting described the setting of Africa as it made me feel like I was there.

There’s a human king who is the ruler of Africa’s lands and he has a son called Prince Bumpo. The prince would always think of being a frog prince which was strange as to why he wanted to be a frog prince when he is already a human prince.

The Doctor in the story was a poor man and had no money. But he still wanted to help the dying monkeys in Africa. So he asks a fisherman if he could borrow his boat. I think this was very kind of the doctor that he is going out of his way to help the animals.

The author has described every little detail in this book in such an amazing way that it becomes to easy to read and imagine the setting in which the story moves forward.

I highly recommend reading this book. It’s perfect as a quick read for cold nights of December.
